My neighbor has a dog that knocked over its water bowl?
Posted on Nov 16, 2009 under Best Dog Water Bowl | 31 CommentsLast week, I said something to my neighbor about his dog. It appears that he gives it water in a 5 gallon bucket which it knocked over with its chain. He has the dog chained to a tree. He said he would get around to giving it some water, however, it has been a week now and the dog is just laying there. I even threw a rock at it from over the fence and when the rock hit it, it still didn’t move. I realize it would be trespassing, but should I jump the fence and take that dog some water?
This is too complicated. At this point, I don’t want to get involved. I am just going to stay out of this.
First of all, this is not my dog. I water my dogs. This is the neighbors dog and it i on his property. I will contact a buddy of mine who is a lawyer and ask him if it is okay to go on my neighbors property to water the dog. I just want to be sure I am not breaking the law.
- Pets can drink
straight from the stream. - New pre-filter reduces cleaning maintenance, and wear and
tear. - Built-in 1 gallon reservoir makes refills less frequent.
- Dishwasher safe prevents melting and damage.
- The Drinkwell Fountain is designed, approved, and
recommended by veterinarians, particularly for pets prone to urinary
tract disorders.
Update, I saw him walk outside and throw a tarp over the dog. When I questioned him about it, he said the tarp would help keep the sun off of it. I said, why don’t you give it some water and he said that dogs can water from licking tree bark? Is this true?
Dude…SERIOUSLY, call animal control or the police ASAP. You can’t just let this dog die or get sick. If he does, its nearly as much your fault as it is his owner. Do something please!

Sounds like you’re too late with the water. Try contacting your local animal rescue centre.

Your lies get less and less believable, Foxhunter. It’s not even funny anymore.
New people: Read his question history. It’s a laugh riot until you realize how sad it is that he continues with these.
Let me guess…your next question you’re going to say it died because it was on a vegan diet, but the vegan judge dismissed the animal cruelty charges on your vegan neighbor, because all 12 members of the jury were vegan, so you’ll want to know if it’s okay to eat the dog…since you’re vegan and all. (Whoops, I shouldn’t be giving you ideas.)

No report the man for cruelty to the dog
Even tying it to a tree is wrong

It sounds like the dog is probably dead already but if I were you I’d call whichever the appropriate animal welfare group is where you live.

if you are being serious in your description of events ,, then you are a fool !!
and guilty of neglect, for not getting water to the poor dog sooner.
or reporting the owner for neglect and cruelty You should have , acted, as soon as you see the poor dogs plight .
How dare a responsible human being ,do such a thing to a helpless animal !!!!
Why was he allowing his dog to die of thirst
. Could you survive a whole week, without having any liquid ?
Just try it and see how you feel after three short days …..
In my opinion, both you and your neighbour,
should both be severely punished .
You are BOTH guilty of neglect
Now go immediately and fetch this poor dog, some water to drink,~~~~~~ before it is indeed too late !!!!
( who the hell cares if you are trespassing ! or not )
In these circumstances ,you would be justified to gain access .
and call the HUMANE SOCIETY at once !
I hope this is not ‘for real’,
but just one of your inane, wind ups
if it is, you have a very warped sense of humour .
do tell us

in the mean time why don’t you spray your hose where the dog can reach the water, but please alert someone to the problem, try yourself going all day without a drink and imagine that feeling.

What has this got to do with vegetarianism? If this happened, which in your case I know it didnt, call the ASPCA. It would be animal cruelty.

call animal services because this guy is neglecting his animal which is just as bad as a parent neglecting their child.

Give the dog some water, really if you get done for trespassing, he’ll get done for animal cruelty. You have a reason, this poor dog needs water. If you’re worried call the RSPCA or something.

Dogs need water just as humans do, could you get water from licking a tree? I know I couldn’t. This dog needs help, the poor thing is probably on the verge of death and needs help quickly before its too late. Perhaps you could give the dog some water and explain to your neighbour the dog needs water every day. Maybe you could contact a local animal rescue place and inform them of the situation. If something doesnt happen soon, the poor dog is going to die.

Technically, you’ve already trespassed by throwing a rock onto your neighbours property. I think you’re a very strange person to watch a dog die of thirst and write about it here. Do you actually have anything else to do?

Ask the neighbor if they would consider nailing the bucket to the tree so that the dog can’t spill it. If he doesn’t comply with your suggestions then you need to call animal control. That is considered animal cruelty. Be a good neighbor ans help the dog. Don’t turn your back on the poor thing, Dog’s depend on us for survival. do what you have to.

call the police. have them investigate or animal cruelty control people.
I’d personally go over and see if its ok and if the neighhbor’s a lazy son of a bitch he doesnt deserve the dog and the dog deserves WAYY fucking better.

i never heard of that licking tree bark to get water thing id pretend to play with my dog and throw the toy into his yard by "accident" aim close to the dog and while you look" for it tip his bowl back up and squirt some water you brought with you in "your water jug" into the bowl……………….and if the dog is dead then call an animal control

So? If you are concerned about the dog as you obviously are why not pamper yourself by giving the dog some water! What are you afraid of your neighbor? F–k him! You have a right to see sanity in your immediate environment. Why even bother with the ASPCA either.
Of course, you may have killed the dog with your infantile rock throwing. I am inclined to agree with the poster who feels you are a fraud.

Please do as the others have asked. The dog is miserable and suffering and the owner does not deserve the animal. Think of it as saving one of God’s creatures and exposing a monster. The dog officer does these things anonymously anyway so it is nothing for you to worry about. Please, listen up and do the right thing.
