What should I put underneath my dog’s water dish?
Posted on Sep 23, 2009 under Best Dog Water Bowl | 5 CommentsI currently have 3 dogs so I use a gallon size automated water bowl with the bottle sitting on the top like an arrow head water dispensor. Two of the dogs tend to let lots of water get all over the floor. Now I have water damage and would like to replace it but was not sure what would be the best option, because they need water in house but I don’t want them to destroy my floor.
They have waterproof bed pads for babies and the elderly. You can buy one of those so the water doesn’t soak through and ruin your floor.
- Pets can drink
straight from the stream. - New pre-filter reduces cleaning maintenance, and wear and
tear. - Built-in 1 gallon reservoir makes refills less frequent.
- Dishwasher safe prevents melting and damage.
- The Drinkwell Fountain is designed, approved, and
recommended by veterinarians, particularly for pets prone to urinary
tract disorders.

They are available at Walmart.
You can also go to the material/sewing department at Walmart and buy a waterproof tablecloth. It’s inexpensive and it comes on big rolls. You purchase only the amount you need. (it is vinyl coated with a soft cotton backing)

get a terrycloth mat or a foam mat. this will absorb water.

I would put down the same flooring that you did have .. just because that would look better and also it would match the rest just like before and then place down a mat that would absorb the water. Sometimes they even come in cute paw prints or bone shapes. =)

A cloth rag under it will just stay wet and cause more damage. I use a rubber bath mat, but it is a smaller water bowl for a small dog. How about getting a "scrap" piece of linoleum or vinyl flooring…like 3 or 4 ft square from a flooring store or Home Depot, or even Walmart ( they sell small rolls of it cheap). You might need to put a brick on each corner to keep the corners from curling up at first. Also move it every few days to check underneath…. if the water spills go close to the edge, there could be water under it
