Please help my fat dog!? 10 points to best answer!?

So, I have a female beagle who’s four years old. She’s about 15-20 pounds OVER weight. I also have an old english sheep dog who’s fourteen years old. He doesn’t need to lose weight at all. Our dogs are outside and inside dogs. Their beds, food and water are in our garage. We let them inside our house all the time. They both eat and drink out of the same food container. It’s one of those where you put the food in and it keeps filtering into the bowl until it’s all gone. This makes it so we don’t have to feed them every meal, they can get food whenever they want. I want the beagle to lose weight but not my other dog. I want the old english sheep dog to still have food whenever he wants but not the beagle. I was thinking of putting the sheep dog’s food in a place where my beagle couldn’t get it (like past our electric fence-he won’t run away.) And then having the beagles food in a separate bowl(that doesn’t filter) and leaving it inside our house. I would fill her bowl every morning and night and let her in to eat it. Do you think this is a good idea? Any suggestions?
And how many 8 ounce cups would I give my beagle of food every meal? Should I just feed her in the morning and night or morning, night and dinner? 10 points to the best answer! Thanks so much!

Your dogs are going through a very unhealthy lifestyle because they can get access to food any time. I also feel that your dogs are not getting proper exercise, especially the beagle. There should be proper timings for food, like once in the morning, then at noon, and finally at night. Feed them in separate bowls. The Beagle should know that the other bowl belongs to the other dog and she is not allowed to eat from it.
Remember that the best exercise that a dog can get is by walking. But there is a proper way of doing so. You can learn that from Cesar Milan’s show "Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic Channel. Your dog should get 45 minutes of walk everyday. If that is a bit difficult for you, tren try at least 30 mins.
I hope you follow the techniques taught in the show and your dogs become healthy again.

so we got a dog about 2 weeks ago and its a tinyy bulldog (smaller than a cat) and my cats are TERRIFIED of her. (i have three cats) and even when my dog is in her cage the cats hiss and growl at her. ever since we got the dog no one has been paying attention to any of the cats, only me. they dont even feed the cats orfill the water bowl. so i make sure to do it everyday. will my cats runaway since they arent getting very much attention by anyone else but me? and wil they run away because they are scared of the dog? best answer 10 points

It’s hard to say. I don’t think they will. If they go outside a lot and hang around the house theyw ill always come back. If they find comfort in you thats what they will look for. Just to be safe, i would try to keep them inside for a while until they become more used to their new housemates. You also should talk to your family about your concerns and how the cats still need everyones attention. You might just find that the cats dont care. Cats tend you like a certain person in the house the most. Soon the dogs will be old news and everything will get back to normal.

since he was four months, i’ve tried: yelling a firm NO/STOP,picking him up or pull him away from the mess or hit something near by to startle him such as a wall, table or slapping some newspaper against my hand. i even put a bowl of water next to him but he will sniff it and walk away. the only time he will not drink his urine is if he reliefs himself outside so this is more of a indoor/ crate kind of problem and once he starts drinking, nothing seems to get his attention. it is also very hard to fully house train him because he is so stubborn and follows commands when he wants too, not even the best treat can persuade him! for every mess i clean up, he make a new puddle somewhere else. i heard about giving him warm hot dog pieces to get his attention but im not sure if its a good idea….any help or advice would be very helpful.

yah, he may very well have some kind of physical ailment. especially if he pees in the crate.

Or, possibly its a habit he got because he was left in the crate too long without a break. Dogs hate to foul their own beds, and so may have cleaned it up. Now he can’t break the habit.

as far as peeing indoors — there’s two modes of peeing: marking, and eliminating. If he’s marking, neutering will put an end to it.
The only way to stop him urinating indoors is to physically prevent it happening. Watch him 100% of the time.
